When Alzheimer’s disease begins to strip away her mother’s vibrant personality, Sarah Leavitt, a headstrong young woman is forced to return to her oddball Jewish family in the conservative small town she recently fled in order to care for her. Fired up by her newfound identity as a lesbian feminist activist, Sarah tries to take control of the situation, but quickly realizes she must accept the cruel and warped reality of the disease—and the imperfect beauty of her family—in order to become the daughter they need. 

At its heart, Tangles is about a young woman coming of age, coming out and coming to terms with losing her mom, all while searching for herself.
